Elton Coming to Wales

SIR Elton John will play the Liberty Stadium in Swansea next summer, it was announced yesterday.

Tickets for the gig – which takes place on June 29, 2008 – go on sale on Monday .

It will be the first time the Sir Elton has performed in the Welsh city.

And he will once again be joined by Swansea band The Storys, who have supported him twice previously.

Sir Elton has staged many concerts in football grounds throughout the country and next year’s Swansea event will be one of only a handful of outdoor shows he will undertake.

He follows in the footsteps of The Who, who performed the inaugural concert at the ground, home to Swansea City and the Ospreys, last year.

“We are delighted to welcome such an iconic and much loved performer as Elton to the Liberty Stadium for what will be his only Welsh date during 2008,” said John Hague, acting chairman of Swansea Stadium Management Company.

“This a major coup for us and I’m sure that his many fans in south Wales, young and old, will be excited at the opportunity to watch Elton at such a fantastic venue.”
